Product quality

Quality control begins with incoming inspection of materials, raw materials and tools entering the plant. This also includes chemical analysis of the roll material, control of the structure of the working layer and core of the barrel, roll necks, control of the hardness of the barrel and necks, control of the quality of machining and US control for the presence of latent casting defects. The mechanical properties of the roll materials are tested.
The basis of the plant’s policy is the establishment of a quality level that meets the consumer’s requirements for the reliable operation of our products during the design service life when performing the specified functions, as well as ensuring its environmental friendliness and safety.
An important element of the plant’s policy is the focus of the entire team on the constant improvement and harmonization of all production processes so that the ability to produce appropriate products from the first presentation increases and consumers’ confidence in compliance with the requirements for our products, regardless of the state of external and internal factors.

Manufacturing

RAW MATERIALS
Materials and reagents delivered to the plant have documents confirming their characteristics and are subject to incoming inspection.

SMELTING
Smelting is carried out in VLZ (Valcelite Plant) with the following smelting units:

one 25-ton swinging open-hearth furnace for melting of rolled iron;

one 6 ton arc furnace with self-contained control system TT-DSP-17.01

inductive three-crucible furnace of industrial frequency IChT-6 with crucible capacity of 6 tons.

inductive twin-needle furnace “Otto Junkers.”

CASTING
Rolls are cast in two ways:

stationary mold casting;

vertical centrifugal casting into a rotating mould;

centrifugal casting of non-metallurgical rolls into a rotating mold horizontally.
Maximum casting weight:

by stationary method – 54 tons;

centrifugal method on a machine with a vertical axis of rotation – 25 tons;

centrifugal method on a machine with a horizontal axis of rotation – 0.54 tons.

• HEAT TREATMENT
  The mill has two bell-type thermal furnaces and three roll-out furnaces, which are used for annealing, normalization, high and low temperature tempering of roll castings.
  The computer-controlled heat treatment process provides the following processing capabilities:
• maximum heating temperature, 1150 0S;
• maximum heating rate, up to 50 0С/h;
• maximum cooling rate, up to 150 0С/h;
• temperature fluctuation is ± 5 0S.
• MACHINING
  The roll machining plant includes: lathes for roughing and finishing turning, cnc machines, milling machines
  machines, roller grinding machines, chill boring machines, boring machines, turning and carousel machines, etc.
